Since you’ve had recent attendees and presenters, I am sending a copy to GAAC, too.

Hello: Acadia Astronomical Society (Mt. Desert Island, ME)

Astronomical Society of Northern New England (Kennebunk, ME)
Central Maine Astronomical Society (Whitefield, Lincolnville & Damariscotta)
Downeast Amateur Astronomers (Pembroke, Calais, ME)
Penobscot Valley Star Gazers (Bangor, ME)
Southern Maine Astronomers (Portland, Brunswick, ME)

Attached please find the Astronomer’s Package for the 19th annual, 2024 Maine State Star Party which is now just one month, (4 weekends) away.
As always, camping is free at the Star Party Site
There is no event fee and no signup is needed.
So you really don’t have any excuse not to just simply show up 😊
When you arrive, check in at the Park reception building and tell them that you are here for the Star Party. They will give you a free permit and directions to the site.
If you want to see what happened last year, check out the YouTube video.
Google search: YouTube Maine State Star Party 2023.
We are again going to announce the Maine Astronomer of the Year for 2024. See page 7 of the attached Astronomer’s Package. But there have been other awards made across the state that I’d like to repeat here:
In northern Maine, Versant Astronomy Center Director, Shawn Laatch was named 2024 Outstanding Professional Employee at the University of Maine. Congratulations Shawn for all of your hard work keeping astronomy an important part of Maine and the University.

In Southern Maine, Paul Kursewicz of the Astronomical Society of Northern New England received a first runner up award from the Astronomy League for the best Astronomy Newsletter in the country. Paul puts a lot of love and effort into ASNNE’s newsletter each month. The newsletters can be read at asnne . org.

So, start packing your gear and be sure to bring along unwanted items for the swap table. We started earlier this year with great weather for the Total Solar Eclipse. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for another great weekend.
