I recently received a notice from Peter Gillette of ASNNE that the author of Clear Sky Chart, Attilla Danko passed away on November 28, 2024. I was introduced to Attilla many years ago via email, when I first sponsored the Cadillac Mountain and Seawall charts for the Acadia Night Sky Festival (2009-2019). He was always helpful and prompt in his business communications and I will miss dealing with him in the future. Fortunately his spouse/partner/best friend, Ingrid G. de Buda, is doing her best to currently manage the site. See the story below:

Attilla Danko, born 1955-09-28, died 2024-11-28 from lung cancer, despite never being a smoker. Beloved spouse/partner/best friend of Ingrid G. de Buda. Predeceased by his sister Iby Moran (nee Palocsai). Colleagues from Bell-Northern Research(BNR)/Nortel may remember Attilla as the editor of the DMS Programming Model. Some will remember that he organized innumerable dinner modes. He had a fabulous sense of humour and a fun collection of desk toys.
Astronomers and others may know him as the creator of the Clear Sky Chart astronomy forecasts, which won him many awards including having asteroid 161693 Attilladanko (2006 HL46) named after him. He also enjoyed microscopy and recumbent cycling.
He will be deeply missed by everyone whose life he touched.
An ashes scattering ceremony will be held at a dark sky location mid next year. Details will be put up on cleardarksky.com
