New Images from Phil Orbanes

Phil has sent us two new images, each a popular object, revisited with the
benefit of new processing software. A parade of program updates has really
changed the game for our astrophotographers. See the new images at the
bottom, here https://gaac.us/gallery-2/phil2/.

Phil's notes follow:

  • M44 -  "I upgraded my older version of this bright open cluster in the
heart of Cancer, primarily because it is so sparkling pretty. There are 8
very tiny NGC and IC galaxies surrounding it."

  • ABELL 31 - "This is the largest planetary in Abell's catalog and is
located in nearby Hydra. This one really benefited from the new sharpening
tools in Pixinsight. A bonus is the nifty little spiral galaxy seen near
    the lower right corner."

Nice Phil, I know Abel 31 is a very faint object so that is a very nice
result

Phil, great images, love the way the colors in Abel flow into each other; great effect.
