Mario has sent us nine new images of all kinds of objects, from planets to
supernova remnants to galaxies, for his 3rd gallery. You can see the new
material here https://gaac.us/gallery-2/mario3/, all good stuff. Once you
click on an image you'll see its label.

Mario's notes on the images:

  • NGC1499, the California Nebula, obtained with my 6 inch refractor, Ha,
S2, and O3 filters. Nice "cloud details" on zooming in.

  • SH2-200, a very nice planetary nebula with interesting detail. NB
filters used, this is very faint, 3 hours imaging with my 32 inch scope.
Clearly has 2 outer shell ejections, and strange markings over the nebula.

  • SH2-240, a supernova remnant, looks like the better known Vela nebula
from the southern hemisphere, in Taurus. Taken with my hyperstar C8, a very
    wide 3 degree field.

  • SH2-205  star forming region, taken with C8 Hyperstar.

  • NGC1365, one of the nicest barred galaxies in the sky, very low in our
skies at -36 dec, hard for northern hemisphere.

  • NGC 1055 in Cetus, a nice Sc galaxy, looks like the Sombrero galaxy
    upside down.

  • NGC1068, an interesting face-on spiral, bright center, faint outer
    arms, in Cetus.

  • Jupiter.

  • Mars (this years opposition is distant from earth).

Hope you all had a fun gathering last night.  I almost made it up there, but felt a little too pooped for the trip.
