My Pleiades Mosaic Astro-Imaging Project

My fall astro-imaging project was a 2-panel x 2-panel mosaic of the
Pleiades open star cluster in Taurus. I used my standard equipment:
StellarVue SVQ100APO refractor (100mm, f/5.8), ZWO 183MM PRO camera, and
AstroDon filter set. I collected six hours of image data, per mosaic panel,
through the luminance filter. The image data collected through the red,
green and blue filters did not align well with each other. I'll need to
re-do that component in the fall. For the time being, I can share the
luminance mosaic (full resolution):

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IPSYx9r-P7IFKiYju4HnLJOWWtFdSJxh/view?usp=share_link

What I discovered - and maybe others already knew this - is that there are
quite a few distant galaxies in the background. For example:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/13AgL6Kh9sA_T9flHPOwyhrwawUT1X_94/view?usp=share_link

I invite you to scrutinize the full resolution image for other distant
galaxies. I think that I once counted at least ten faint galactic smudges.
Anyway, just a little fact about the Pleiades that you might not have known
about.

Enjoy,

-Gary

Nice deep image, great work
I am always surprised at new discoveries when we image deep, new things just keep appearing. No I did not know of the galaxies, but I am not surprised.
Nice job

Wow, an impressively deep capture of the Pleiades! Great job Gary...

And sorry for my lack of response to all the great images from Phil, Barry
and the prolific work of Mario down in FL! Been enjoying them all, thanks
for sharing.
