Hi Astro-Imagers: I've not kept up with any behind-the-scene conversations of astro processing topics. However, I just learned about a third-party utility for PixInsight users related to stretching images, Generalized Hyperbolic Stretch. You might need to update PixInsight if you haven't done so in a while. I've yet to learn how to use the tool, though have been reading very good things about it on the CloudyNights' Experienced Deep Sky Imaging forum.
